As I am shopping around for a used Celica. I stumble upon these two Celicas. So which is best? They are both being offered for $12,000

Celica #1
2000 GT - 5 Speed
Liquid Silver
41,000 Miles
Registered until May 2005
TRD Suspension
TRD Exhaust Kit
GTS Rims with Yokohama tires
Tinted Windows
Racing Pedals
All Weather Package
Power Tilt & Slide Moonroof
Power Windows, Locks, Cruise Control
AM/FM Stereo Cassette and CD Player
Rear Spoiler and Fog Lamps

Celica #2
2000 Celica GTS 6 Speed
Liquid Silver
Transferable Extended Warranty for 100,000 Miles
53,000 Miles
Leather
Moonroof
ABS
PL, PW, AC, CD
16" Alloy Wheels

And another question. If I was to get a Celica GT for $10,000 and I put the mods that are listed on the first Celica (TRD Suspension, Exhaust, and Rims) how much would that cost me on top of the 10K?

tough decision to make i guess. r you willing to take it to tracks? do you like reving high? wut do you want the car for? only looks, speed, handling?
if you dont care about the speed, then get the gt cause it already has the suspension and all that. i would still get the gts though because lift is one of the biggest factors for me to buy a celica. all you have to do is spend another thousand bucks on it to be like the gt with suspension, exhaust, tint... good news it has 100,000 miles warranty, better than the gt, so if anything happens, they fix it for free. if you care about lift, definetely get the gts or else ull regret it later. its only gonna cost you a little more in the beginning, but once you go on lift, everythings gonna be paid off

Both are good deals. I'd take the GTS... just because it's a GTS.

And if you like those mods and plan to get a GT... just get that one. The suspension and exhaust alone would cost more than the 2 grand difference (if he has full suspension and not just springs).

I am not really a speed freak so the extra "40" HP does not really matter. The thing that attracts me most to the GTS is the Lift, leather interior, and the warranty. The guy's Celica needs to be registered so that will a few extra dollars to the 12K.

As for the GT. Those are the mods that I was planning on doing if I was to get a GT. I think that 10K is a good starting point. My whole idea behind spending 12K on that GT is because why not spend the cost of putting together all of the mods right now instead of going back and forth with ordering and installing the parts. That is a big benefit to the GT. I saw some pics of the GT and it is SUPER clean. This guy takes good care of his car. So it does cost about $2,000 to purchase and install the TRD Suspension, TRD Exhaust, and GTS Rims?

i have moderate mods to my GTS. but my personal opinion:
you want to have YOUR ride. something personal to you. having a stock ride and putting your own selection of mods, seeing the difference each piece makes helps you appreciate it.

Plus GTS... everyone else out there that has a Celica always looks to the next guy and compares. You'll want the GTS a little down the way and kick yourself for not getting the higher model.

The lift does kick. VTEC and VVTi have little boost but the lift is something you can feel.

After market goodies? Lot of GT Turbos out there since its a common motor for the Matrix and Corollas. Only a few high end mods for GTS engine.

I bought my GTS used and had the Warranty. Never needed it.

Good luck either way.

I totally agree with you regarding putting my own selection of mods so that it feels more personalized.

I am also talking to the guy that owns the GTS, a nice guy. Selling it because he is 28, a bit too old for the car he said and just purchased an IS300. The guy's girlfriend is the one that is making him sell the car, hehe.

But since I am going to be paying the car off, might as well go for the GTS. I am not planning on Turboing, so that stock 180HP engine with Lift sounds more reasonable right?

The leather interior would be great IMO. Always wanted a leather interior car.

I can still put a TRD exhaust on the GTS right?

O yeah, the guy with the GTS is also throwing in a Fosgate amp with 2x12" Subs. He wasn't going to include it but changed his mind. The guy is really nice.

Yeah, I think I rather go with more power right now and not regret getting a GTS. I can always perform those mods onto the GTS later down the line.

Thanks guys, case closed.

Will post pics if the deal goes through.

At first I wanted to get the GT, but after some thinking I am now gearing more towards the GTS.

The only differance is the TRD aftermarket parts.. the GTS has everything else plus more than listed on that GT. I say GTS by far.

Did I read this right? Both a GT and a GTS at 12,000 for the best year 00? This shouldn't even be a question unless the GT is stick and the GTS is auto speed freak or not. Get the GTS, but make sure you have a mechanic check if over before hand unless Toyota certified. GTS all the way. You'll be kicking yourself in the ass if you got the GT. Do the right thing.

:|.

Lower compression = faster in the lower part of the powerband. Higher compression is for peak RPM operation (7500 to the rev limiter).

The only benefit with going with the GT is if you're going to Turbo it. I'm sure you can drop your compression in your GTS, and drop a custom Turbo in, but that's gonna cost you a bit more.

If you're just looking for a car that will be fast pretty much stock, and aren't exactly serious about racing, go with the GTS. (I mean, if you aren't going to mod it much, and just be a quick cruiser, the GTS is the way to go wink)

Nah, not going to put Turbo into it, but I would love to drive a "quick cruiser".

So GTS it is.

Also, the GTS is nice in the high RPM range, if I was to put an Intake, I think that one of the brand either AEM or Injen is actually better in the lower RPM range, would that even things out a bit?

Yep, higher compression = better top end wink.

I believe AEM is known for high-end power, and Injen is known for mid-range. Not too sure, though. Research! wink.
