Anyone out there heard of this little gem?

It'a a plug & play ECU piggyback unit. Details about it are here:

http://www.importstudio.bigstep.com/generic201.html

Looks promising; if anything else, it'll fix the rev limiter problem on some cars, but it seems to have many added benefits on top of that.

I might get one, if I can get some details on it.

yeah, it does look very promising but i think it's a lil bit over priced, IMO

as with all mods, we need to see a dyno

i wouldn't go with anything from weapon r. my sister in-law has a friend who invited the owner's son (who designs their product) to some event and when my brother started talking car technology the guy came off very inept and couldn't answer basic performace questions. it seems he also didn't understand the computer programs (like auto cad) which help design parts. you see, my brother's a mechanical engineer and he has a semi-race gti vr6 plus he's helped design and build formula race cars. basically, this guy takes copyrighted and patented parts and brings them to china to have them duplicated for cheap wtf. kinda like designer jeans knock-offs. now that's ghetto thumbsdown. then again, if you just want something that "looks aftermarket" then sure, go ahead spineyes.

interesting info, However, just because he's an idiot doesn't mean his staff shares the same qualities. I'll let the product be the judge in this, not the guy who makes it.

I also thought it a bit pricey but I agree that dyno sheets would be great. I'm just trying to track down someone who has one to get their opinion.

I just wish the ECU was as easy to chip & program as the ford ecu's.

What sources are around for re-programmed ecu's for the GTS anyway?

Our ECU's cannot be changed, they're not carckable.

I am sure something can be done to help out with the computer tuning and whatnot. As for seeing dynos, a manufacturer dyno from them means absolutely nothing to me. I would want to talk to someone that has the product and has had it for a while. That way you get the real results. But the odds of finding someone with this is pretty slim, but oh well. Maybe someone with some extra bucks laying around will purchase it and give it a shot. Everyone says that nothing can be done to our computers. Has anyone tried, or is it all rumors? Why can nothing be done? Please give an explanation to back yourself up. Thanks

Our ECUs are a 16-bit encrypted ECU. No one possesses the technology to change the programming to the ECU besides Toyota themself, and they'r enot about to give it away. JET Chips have proven to be ineffective (by a Team Celica member even) and other such chips haven't had any effect. No one has been able to reprogram the ECU or even get close to it.

Nothing is uncrackable, that's impossible.

16 bit key, that's a F***ing cakewalk, dude. Try cracking 128 bit crypto keys, it can be done.
Most tuners work with open source code or make their own anyways, but cracking the code wouldn't be hard; I know a few guys that could do it in their sleep.

If I had a ROM dump from the ECU, I'd crack it myself... ^_^ Anyone got a Rom Dump from the ECU?

Also, couldn't you just use the J-spec ECU with the 2ZZGE? that ECU is hotter than ours. Dump it's ROM and put it on a FlashROM, that is, if the factory unit doesn't already have it (most ECU use flashrom these days) then just burn the rom to your ECU and your all straight.

People have thought about dumping the ECU different ways. Just hasn't happened.

Hey Rave, why don't you try and make something happen. Maybe you can make an aftermarket part for our cars and go into selling it yourself. You would make so much money doing that.
