yeah it's a freak. freakishly low powered

dynoed 166 with I/E - again lower then most
now I'm at 183

2002 is the slower year
typically with equal drivers you will see a .4 second difference between an 02 model and any other 7th gen.
the difference is the rev limiter
2002 - 7800 is your limit
all other years fuel cut is 8400 rpms allowing you to land in lift when shifting the 1-2

No, the 2002 is the slower one, due to the revlimiter.
Differences in years:
2000: closer shift gates (lots of misshifts caused fucked up engines), grey interior, red/orange tail-lights.
2001: Easier to shift, grey interior, red/orange tail-lights (most people like the '01 Performance wise)
2002: grey interior, red/orange tail-lights, revlimiter (causes you not to land lift as easy or impossible).
2003: Black interior, Drive by Wire introduced, for a while you could not Turbo it due to the DBW but now the SF kit is DBW compatible, red tail-lights.
2004: Same as 2003.

some places just dont take the car into redline.
also if you're trying to judge how fast your car is this is pointless. who cares what the mag says anyways
stock celica listed in mags anywhere from 15.7 - 14.9
I ran 14.7 as have a few people now
too many factors come to play in racing. it's best to hit the track and see how you do

nahh wold say the 6.8 is more accurate. teh mustang does 5.5 0-60 average. and its not that much faster. its faster by a lot off the line but not 2 and a half sec faster.

why the fuck they put 6.8 then?
magazine people dont test the cars to the full extent, most of the time they are lended to them by the company (toyota, nissan, ford, chevy, etc). So they have to give them back...in working order. This makes them leary about going into redline. Also, for a while I believe everyone dissed lucky/illusive for telling how to land lift, because they thought they were wrong or something...

Theres a lot of cars like the celica with the difference in years. The eclispe has the same problem with the rev limiter and the 2000's are faster. Me and a friend were talking about it last night.
