I have heard a lot about "lift bolts" easily breaking in the ealier 7th generation celicas. Are the automatic gts as effected by this faultyness? Also where are the lift bolts located? How can one go about replacing them?

Are you being sarcastic?

Anyways, autos can hit lift just like manuals, they just can't land in it. The bolts will wear, regardless of if you hit lift or not.

All you have to do to replace them is take off the valve cover, and unscrew the two bolts, and swap the new ones in. Easy as pie, unless you don't know what you are doing.

There is an online install guide, but I don't feel like looking for it right now.

This is also covered under warranty.

autos hit lift just like your 6 speed would've...once we get up to 6800 it kicks in automatically, only difference for us is that we can't go into the redline, so we can't fall back down into lift, we fall back down to like 5500 and so it takes us a second or two to get back into lift. thumbsup

Auto GTS has a 'sportshift' 4spd...

It can easily hit lift ;p

Also it can hit lift just by flooring it really hard...

An Auto GTS would be pointless if it didn't have lift ;p

ok nvm...
i thought not all the GTS autos had that sport shift, so i figured they couldn't hit it...but they all have it.

lift bolts can break even if you've never hit lift in your car. seen it once on a 2000 model.

they saw posts about it and brought to me and they were broken oddly enough. (older couple owned the car)

even the normal vvt wears on the same bolts wink "lift bolts" is just a street name for them. thumbsup
