I installed my gen 2 AEM cold air Intake in january, and a couple weeks ago, my engine light went on. When I had my oil changed and service done, i had the people at the shop check it out, and ended up paying aoubt 120 for them to tell me that the engine was fine, and that the Intake didn't connect with something. does anyone else have this problem? and how do you fix it? When I installed it, I did take a lot of parts out, and left some hoses unhooked up, so did I take out too many pieces of the stock air filter?

make sure that your sensors are plugged in and correctly seated. make sure you don't have vaccum leaks also.

You can also go to advanced autoparts or autozone and they'll scan the car with an obd2 codereader for free and tell you what the problem is.

Also after installing any Performance upgrade unhook the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes and then go drive it hard. The ecu will calibrate itself again to the readings it's getting from it's sensors. If you're flowing more air the ecu will sense it and make the corrections to optimize Performance.

I know on my cougar the first 10 miles the car will run a little wierd as it calibrats but then it's good to go after that.

Maybe instead of taking off the neg batt cable, try just pulling the ecu fuse. Thats what the dealers do, just sounds a little easier from my point of view than resetting all your clocks and risking a short.
