I currently have 2 10" 500W subs w/a 480W amp. I've been wanting to upgrade for some time now and am wondering would it be better to get one 12" 800W to use w/my current amp, or go ahead and get 2 of them?

Well if you want to keep your current amp I'd say just go with 1, otherwise they will probably be slightly underpowered, which is almost as bad as overpowering them. thumbsup

EDIT: Actually bad for the sub, not just the sound.

What ohm ratings are your subs? And are they single, dual, or quad? Personally I would upgrade the amp too.

You can wire them down to 2 ohms then just get a 1600 watt amp(at 2 ohms) and run the hell out of them.

My bad. Thats peak power handeling...get an something like an 800 to 1000 watt amp. Subs can always use a bit extra power.
