Make sure you get parts that are smopg leagal. they need to have a CARB (California Air Resources Board) exempt # on them.

yah you have to take it into some shop where they run tests on it and check if it passes the smog requirements..if it passes then they send the certificate to the dmv o and also the test can run 50-70 depending where.. frown

but i think if your car year is 1971 or lower it's exempted for age.. happywink

for some too lazy..aren't there places where you pay for a automatic pass? i'd prolly end up doin that than put everything back to stock, take test, and put racing parts back in...it's just not worth it.

some Intake systems carry or are pending approval for a California Air Resources Board Executive Order (CARB EO) number exempting them from the prohibitions of California Vehicle Code (CVC) 27156 which states that you cannot modify your car in the area of the emission control system. The C.A.R.B. E.O. number allows you to legally install and use those Intake system on your car.

...

In California, smog inspections are generally required during a vehicle's initial registration and once, every two years, thereafter. This inspection cycle will continue for as long as the vehicle is registered in this State. Smog Inspections are also required anytime a vehicle is sold or bought in California. During a title transfer the Department of Motor Vehicles will not allow a vehicle to be registered unless it is presented with a valid smog certificate.

Under current California law, 1975 and subsequent model year vehicles will be exempt from Smog Check when they turn 30 years old. A 1976 model year vehicle will be exempt in 2005, a 1977 in 2006, etc.

Currently exempt from the State of California Smog Check program are:

** Motorcycles

** Diesel

** Two-cylinder or less

** Two-stroke (two-cycle) engines(excluding rotary engine)

** Engines under 819cc

** 1975 model-year vehicles and older

** 4 model years old and newer (except for initial registration in California or change of ownership)

Im not worried about not passing smog because of one aftermarket part installed but i am worried about the combination of all three I/H/E installed.
