I went to JL last week and got an oil change. I usually do it my self. Well I noticed a spot in my garage. Long story short, got my car on a lift and the oil drain plug wasn't even torqed down. Took it off with my hand. Good thing I caught it. Please don't waste your time and money at JL. Mike

Not every JL is like yours. I take my mom's Passport there all the time & I've never had any problems with them.

This is the second JL I have had problems with. The other one forgot to put my plastic engine covers back on. And they use Fram Oil filters. Anyone who knows anything about car care knows, never use a FRAM. Cardboard inside of the filter element. GARBAGE. thumbsdown

I have had so-so service with Jiffy. Haven't been there once with my celica though. When I had my cavalier I would go there all the time, they would forget to put the valve caps back on and some other odd things.

Bah. I guess I'll change my oil this time around (it's been around 5k miles, so soon).

It takes me 20 minutes to change the oil in my car.

I spend more time opening, drinking, and stacking up the beer cans rofl

Yeah, JL doesn't use quality oils or filters. HAHA when I first got my car the dealer tried to tell me, "you can't do your own oil changes and stuff because of the very small engine bay, it's really hard" yeah...ok. spineyes

you get what you pay for... if your too lazy to do it yourself or just dont have the time, i would recommend giving a small tip and try to use the same person everytime. this helps in the quality department.

jiffy wants $31 per oil change...

you can do it yourself in less than an hour and for under $15...

how is that "you get what you pay for" confused

I was thinkin the same thing. You just assume that the JL guys are qualified. I know some kids from my old High School that work there and they know dick about cars. I'm fine with doing it myself wink

I've been rushed for a last minute oil change and have had to leave Toyota after an hour of waiting - a few times (there are about 7 different Toyota service departments all within 10 minutes of my house)... four of those dealerships refuse to do my oil change because they say the car is too low (I'm on full TRD suspension and 18" rims)...

so because of the time constraints, I had been forced to use jiffy lube for a quick 5 minute oil change (for me, i gotta get it done every 3k)... my math says that $30 for a 5 minute oil change = i am buying time, not quality.

the first time jiffy lube did mine, they forgot to put ALL the engine plastic attachments back on - and within the first 5 minutes of being back on the road, the plastics came down - i pulled over and jerry-rigged them to go back up until I hit one of the many Toyota dealerships i pass on my way home, to pick up more plastic pop-nuts

the second time at jiffy lube (different one this time), the guys also forgot to put in the plastic attachment nuts... but the silly part of this whole story was when I was standing out in front of my car watching them do the change, and the guy who opened the hood and removed the oil cap so he could refill with the fresh stuff... he turned and said to me, "you have a nice car, do you have a Turbo installed?"... while he was standing right there, looking at the engine bay, filling the oil rofl

from now on, i will make time to do my own changes - no more "$4.95 an hour burger-flipping jiffy-lube boob" is going to touch my car... angry

I've only gone to JL twice... the last time was bad. I think it tops Isaac's engine plastic story. You know how they tell you all the stuff they checked on my car? Well they come back and said: "Everything looked good. We replaced the oil and filter... but your tire pressure was low all the way around. We set all four wheels to the standard 42lbs". wtf angry

I had to pull out of the garage and set my tires back to 32lbs myself. ohboy

Stopping and tire grip are overrated. When I drive, I like to pretend that I'm either on Safari or a go cart track. spineyes
