ok..im a very paranoid person..like if i hit a bump i flip out and pull over to check if i did any damage..im sure a lot of you guys know what i mean..umm..this just crossed my mind and i figured i would have you guys answer my question..first of all does the CELICA gt have something that cuts the fuel to your engine when you redline?..because i was racing a vdub one night and i was being really stupid(sp wanted to take this guy down)..and i redlined in like second(maybe third)..and i heard that noise...its like grrrcrackcrack..so i shifted ..that was like 8 months ago...and so far no problems..but it onyl redlined for like 3 seconds..am i ok?...does the cellie have that feature that most cars have which i listed above..or not..and if not..since its been like 8 months and no probs..im pretty much out in the clear? oh yeah...and PS- I HATE TAKING MY CAR FOR SERVICE AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP..but my mechanic is only for custom work and he doenst have time to bother with service..and i dont trust any other mechanics..so its pretty much sux that toyota is the closest thing to trusting someone when servicing my car..when in reality..they dont give a shit either..nobody respects your car more than you(and the guy that works on my custom shit cause he is the ONLY person i trust..but in the east coast IMP...because its his life and he takes pride in his work and obviously getting money..lol..but yeah..my guy if something doesnt come out 100% mint (even if it has like a little dot barely noticable flaw..he will trash it..and start from the begining with no charge..wont make money on it..but he is happy that his work is being represented right..i respect that..most people will take the money and hope you dont notice.
yea im paranoid like that too.. (bout my car). i hate takin it in for any kind of service or anything.. cause like you said, if its not their car, their most likely not gona give a shit about how they treat it.
yup..as for my first statement about the redline?..anybody else have a similar situation?..and even though i KNOW i didnt do any damage cause it was 8 months ago..i still need someone to tel me so i wont have a nervous breakdown..lol
02's have a lower rev limiter than all other celicas. I don't know about the GT, I'm sure 02 for GT has a lower rev limiter too. I dont' know why they did that...
by lower rev limiter you mean what?...it doesnt cut off if you redline and does damage..OR..it cuts off at lower rpms(which is safer..but obviosuly does let you max out with Performance)..sory for the possible retarded question..just curious so i dont mess up again(which i dont intend to..but sometimes when an idiot next to you is reving his engine..you wana to make sure you dont come out the go-kart out of the 2)..lol
all teh GT's have the same rev limiter at about 7k you should be fine i've taken my celi up to 8350 numerous times with no problem and i've bounced off the limiter accidentally a few times, the GTS has the different fuel cut offs 00,01,03,04 have fuel cut at 8350, 02 gts has lower rev limiter which sucks, but all GT is the same and you should be fine dont worry about it

thanx a lot guys...one last question though..when i hit the redline..what was up with taht noise..you said you took you car up to 8350...did it flip out?..my car when it hit the red ...it was like a crazy ass grinding/cracking noise...then i obivously shifted out of the gear.
ur engine will sound like flipping out when you hit the rev limiter. the noise that you heard was probably like vang vang vang vang. or some noise repeating over and over. dont worry about it. you just hit the rev limiter without knowing, and you still kept ur foot on the gas pedal. when you hit the rev limiter, ur rpms eventually drop a little, and you still accelerating the car which takes you back to the rev limit again. nothings hurt, they are there for safety purpose. but try to avoid them next time.
