Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior exhaust clearence

Okay i just installed my TSRM but how much clearence should i have in each direction around the tip? I drove it and the car smells like shit. I know its gonna smell for a while as i am breaking it in but I got scared that i was burning my bodykit.

The canister doesn't get hot enough to burn the rear bumper. The canister is designed to withstand temps. of 900 degrees, so you'll be fine.

So i could have the tip resting on the body kit and it still wont melt?

aww...you have the TRD kit, so that's why it's kind of rubbing against your rear valence. Yeah, you can have the tip resting on the valence & it wont melt it, but you'll get a tapping sound when you're on a bumpy road 'cuz the tip will hit the valence. You can fix this by just bending the hanger so that it pushes the tip in the oposite direction.

your exhaust won't get near hot enough just from running your car (even hard) to mess up your rear valence.

and since the trd kit is Urethane..you don't have to worry about it cracking either
