even if it did fit under the hood--its for the gt engine (1zz) only.

since he has a gts this is useless thumbsup

turbochargers & superchargers for the gts cost around the same (4k-5k--not cheap).

all Turbochargers have a bit of a lag while superchargers work immediately.

turbochargers can usually push more whp and torque than a supercharger does.

superchargers are, as a rule of thumb, more reliable.

imo, i'd go supercharged..but blitz still hasnt released there's i don't think. the xs Turbo has some problems and the strafford Turbo seems promising as well as a grand or 2 cheaper thumbsup

I am a fan of the supercharger but is it worth dropping that much cash for one?

a supercharger is a waste of money. im sure you'll have a smooth powerband, but you would be wasting a hell of a lot more than a Turbo kit and your car wouldn't be nearly as fast as a Turbo car.

a Turbo will and should last you the length of your car if you take care of it. as long as you change the oil often, check up on your parts often, let the Turbo warm up and cool down, and dont be a jackass and use common sense, a Turbo should last as long as a supercharger.

no comment on the phrase "more safer" wtf

rofl I think that "more safter" speaks for itself.

Anyway, I don't think the supercharger is that bad of deal. Especially on our cars with the stock powerband as it is. Sure, you are pushing way higher peak numbers with the Turbo, but it's not always about peak numbers. When you drag race or even drive on the street, it's rare that you are anywhere NEAR the sweet spot in a Turbo's powerband.

true, the power band will be nice as hell after the supercharger, but it wont make up for the fact that our GT's will only pull high 14s out of supercharging. with a Turbo we have potential for breaking 13s on 6-7 psi and room for improvement too grin

Ah, on the GT I think that I agree with you. I was speaking more for what a supercharger would do for a GTS.

then how can it be good?

strafford is a good company, don't get me wrong...but it's a bit premature to say that.

it should be assumed that it would be good though thumbsup

but anyway--the blitz supercharger can easily push a gts to 220 whp without engine internals...which is about on par with a Turbo.

superchargers are also better for everyday driving because the powerband is still very much in use at lower rpms with a supercharger.

that sais, yes..a Turbo will give you more top-end, i've said that already. thumbsup

Design and build your own. That's my future plan (after the engine warranty has run out). I haven't decided on Turbo or supercharging yet but these will help:

with Turbo, you'll have higher chances or shorten the life span for your celica to break down. and yes, it does have better top-end as others had already said. have to consider if this celica is going to be on the track more often, or is it going to be on the street more???

so explain to me exactly why it would shorten the life span of your engine? you are forcing more air into the engine, and making more power. thats it. the only way you would shorten your engine's life span is if you boosted past the limit of your engine's stock internals; then you would start to experience problems. like i said before, a Turbo should last the length of your car as long as you dont drag daily and let it warm up and cool down and use your common sense. obviously the Turbo makes more power and thus would be the better choice here.

btw, i found on post on nc showing the 1/4 mile time for the blitz supercharged gts only hitting 14s. 5000+ for 14s? hmmmm puke

what do you mean ONLY 240 hp? if you were to buy a brand new celica GT for 18,000, and invest a good 4,000 for a custom Turbo kit and internals, you're overall spending 22,000 for a 13 second car which is pretty damn good. if you are looking for more power...why did you buy the celica? im still confused about you're statement: ONLY 240? on a 2400 lb car? wtf

ditto. that 'only' is like 80 more whp than a stock gts. you are boosting power by 50% which is GREAT.

reinforce the engine internals and you can boost a hella lot more than that thumbsup

don't bother with a FI celica, the FWD will never really harness the power, unless you drive over 120MPH or run the hell out of your car on a daily basis.

Better to spend the money on the PFC and some good tuning, as well I/H/E.

that will get you similar 1/4 times

simliar 1/4 times? so you are trying to tell me that a I/H/E celica with a Power FC putting 180 whp would produce "similar times" to a Turbo celica putting down 250+ whp? wtf

FWD can be fast if done right. the right transmission and tires, as well as driving skills can attain that. plus, its better than RWD if you rely on your car as a daily driver(espeically in inclement weather), although AWD owns.
