i have 2001 gts auto
ok everyone is telling me that i should just trade my car in for a stick. but that would cost a lot, wouldn't it?
lets figure this out people...
my car worth 16,000$ right now on kbb.com new gts cost 22,000(at least that' how much i got for mine with tax and regit include) i owe about 3000 on my car, so 16000-3000=13000, 22000-13000=7000, so the total is $7000 for trading my car for stick, isn't that a lot???
not to mention, i have to take all the parts off my car.

That won't do it. I had this same question when I was a n00b and wasn't thinking.

You'd have to destroy the car to change it from auto to stick. It's not only the tranny. It's the shifter, the clutch, the gauges, I'm assuming the ECU... lots of things. It could be done, but why would you want to?

The reason it seems like so much ($7k) is because you're comparing used to new. If you look at your exact same car, from the same year with the same mileage, you could probably MAKE money by going to a stick.

revmonster is right, if you sold your car and went with the same MY stick, you'd make money b/c auto's are worth more (book)

but, for $7K you could have a new GTS, with black interior, orange lights all around, better lift bolts... thumbsup

changing the auto to stick isn't really a good idea on newer cars, because you have to change a lot of things because the car was MEANT to be an automatic not a stick shift, just trade it in for a 2003 or 2004 with black interior and orange all around looks really nice thumbsup thumbsup

if you're gonna go with the pain of changing an auto to to a manual, might as well just put in a 2jz while you are at it wink
