how do i know if the gear syncro is broken???

usually you will have difficulty shifting into gears. almost like there's no gear to shift into or you hear the crunching metallic noise.

Yup, you will hear a cracking noice when you shift.
That is what happened to me. Warranty covered it.

and wath do that cracking nois do ?
i hear a nois somtimes when i shift and its a little hard pushing it in to gears

and wath will it cost
its not all the time i hear the cracking nois just some times and i feel it to kinda scratchy

I would try a shift linkage lube first to rule out that as the possible problem. A can of white Lith grease, spray on each joint of the linkage and you good to go. If that takes care of it you have no worries.

when i innstaled my short shiffter i had no greas so i just took the rest from the old shifter and took it over and greased my new shiffter

ew, old grease. didn't your twm come with new grease? you can get wome lithium grease cheaply from any auto store. clean off your shifter joints and apply new grease

any instructions on how to grease it up??? i have the same prob... its hard to downshift 2nd to 1st.

if its your synchro your going to need a new tranny...plus if your dealers a bitch their going to make you change ur tranny oil first...becuase what happens is when you keep shiffting with the fucked up synchro bits and peaces fall off into the tranny oil...once you change that the warranty should cover it...

not sure about older cars, but every manual ive owned (4 of em) i couldnt shift into first from second unless i was at a speed under 10 or so...as to why i dont know...but your problem probably isnt related to this thread

i haev a twm short shiffter that i innstaled my self , so then i dont get it on warrenty i fhink

when i looked at it now it was a little black greas stoff that had coming up around the big ball
