Just wondering what it might run to have the head ported...when I had my new internals put in, the whole thing ran me $1600 for everything (labor)...What do you guys think about Just having the head ported...I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 or so, to take it off, machine it, and then put it back together and back on...also, do you think it would be worthwhile? I drive a 2003 GT...I'm also contemplating saving up and putting in those new cams from catcams when I do it...either that or I'm gonna just buy another block, and build it as a nastier back up when my engine gets tired one day...you guys tell me what you think?

i'd talk to joe alaniz, from what i've been told he is da man for headwork.

you'll see better gains from port&polish on a gt as the head doesn't flow very well at higher rpms,

where as a gts out flows a hand port&polish b18c5

here is a link to the catcams fellas...they look awesome as far as the duration, and I think they would really wake up the 1zz... catcams [catcams.be] ...just click on cams on the left menu, and you'll see the car manufacturers come down...click toyota, and I thikn next to the last one is our 1zz, and the information. thumbsup...I think the Intake cam is 256/245...and the exhaust is 220/213...which is some pretty serious duration eek...

also, when I did the rebuild last time the car was down for 3 weeks...how long do you think a decent machine shop would take to do the headwork...I'm thinking around a week or so...also, how do you think the vvt-I would take to the new cams?

ive got no clue how vvti would react to these cams. im going to the toyota dealership in not to long to get something, and while im there i can ask them...but usually they dont know shit, so probly wont get any help.

with the cams...does it come with just the cam's, or are the cam gears, valve springs and all that other stuff i see included?

Apparently, they use the OEM cam gears, valve springs, etc...kind of an advanced bolt-on from what I've been told...I called the guy at the Maryland, USA distribution office, and he's gonna call me back this afternoon with pricing information, etc...He says that they appear to be in stock in the warehouse, but they are so new that he's gonna have to call the main place in Canada to get me information. I'd like for them to be around $1,000 for the set ( yeah right ), but who knows...cams would be a serious part for our cars...I'll keep posted as I get the information

you will most likely need a standalone with aftermarket cams

or you will run the risk of smacking a valve into the piston, from the vvt controll on the stock ecu

^^^ Thanks Illusive...that's what I was thinking...I've been eyeballing the Power FC anyway...my only thought would be what about the VVt-I learning to adapt to the other bolt-ons...like adjusting to the CAI and what not...is it possible that it could learn to adapt to the new lift duration of the more aggressive cams? Just a thought...I think I'll keep it safe and run the Power-Fc, and dyno tune it, like you and Lucky did in order to get your A/F ratio perfect for your racing GTS's...good looking out thumbsup...keep it coming

power fc can adjust for altitude and temps, but it doesn't adjust to new mods like the stock ecu.

anytime you get a new mod you must dyno tune it to your car.
