Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Gauge LEDs Acting Shady

Hey gang, awhile back I changed out my gauge clusters to make them blue. A few days after I did so, 2 of the LEDs on the tach went out. They are positioned at 12:00 and 9:00 so to speak. When the weather warmed up, all the LEDs seemed to light up fine, yet yesterday, those two went out again. Whatever one does, the other will do. They either both work, or both don't. I've taken them off and re-soldered them a couple times, so I'm pretty sure that's not an issue. Does anybody know why they might be acting up like this?

no clue... if you figure it out, let me know, the stock LEDs in the fuel gauge, etc do that to me when it's humid out, I've thought it was caused by moisture condensation in the cluster. the dealership didn't even open it up to check; I was pissed off by that one!

So anyways, if you figure it out, let me know.

By 9 o clock, do you mean that they are horizontal?

I thought all of them were vertical?

Cut to the chase and solder a couple of fine wire jumpers from the 7:00 LED to the 9:00 LED and be done with it. Be mindful of the polarity. Good luck.

they cant be vertical on the tach and spedo b/c they are both circular, i.e. going from 0 rpm - redline. its the red led in the redline area, and a blue led around the 3000 rpm area
