Has anyone here had a set of TRD struts and springs installed on their car by a Toyota dealer, and if so, how many shop hours did they charge for the job? I was just quoted 10 hours, including the necessary alignment. Does that seem out of line? Since my car is brand new, I would like to have the parts dealer installed, because of the warranty.

install only(no alignment) should not cost you more than $100-$120. some might charge less but dont pay more than $120 .

I don't quite understand the point of your question. The dealership hasn't been involved in the parts, at all. I merely asked one of the service advisors for a price on the labor to install those parts. Maybe your point is that if I got a good price on the parts, they're making up for it with the labor?

I loooked into this last week and they were going to charge $1100 just for the shocks and spring set, plus we have a 14% tax to add on, plus it was $392 plus the good old 14% tax on that for the labour and then like $19 for an alignment (which is cheap) and it came to a total of $1834.20 just to have the car lowered by 1.3" and be able to say "I have TRD shocks/struts and lowering springs."

I said fuck that and am now going with Tokico HPK, and it will give me the same look and no doubt the same quality in terms of parts and ride and the part alone is so much cheaper and I talked to our family mechanic last night and he is going to talk to his buddy who just opened up a new shop and I may be able to get the parts for a bit cheaper too and hopefully the labour won't be too much.

BTW these are Canadian prices and taxing system and I was told it's a six hour job.. either way, TRD is overpriced unless it's the TRD exhaust.

$100 -150 for springs and $250-300 for full coilovers. That's about right everywhere legit. I'm getting my new coilovers installed soon with pillowball mounts and end links for $150, only because they owe me.

Dealer install = ripoff.

They quoted me six hours labor to install a TRD exhaust. This wasn't just one dealer... it was three different ones!

Either DIY or get it done at an independent place.

I was wondering how come its more expensive to install coilovers than a full shocks and strut replacement??? confused the shop that we go to(F1 motorsports for those who know) charge the same since its the same procedure for both. my friend went from stock to coilovers then went to lowering springs and shocks then back to coilovers again. each time he had it done they only charged him like $100. damn you guys are paying a lot thumbsdown eek

getting parts installed at a dealer isn't that bad, it all depends how your dealer treats you. I got my sway bars installd in 90 mins & they only charged me $92 and I haven't had any problems.

back to your question, they should only charge you $150 at the most.
