they make vtec contollers right? has anyone heard of vvtl-i controllers? basically, change when our lift kicks in. it takes too long for lift to kick in, if we could adjust it to 5000rpms, im sure we could run high 14s. what would be the down side of this? would it kill the life of your engine? the controller would allow us to lower it for races then put it back up for normal driving. if anyone has heard of this please link me cause im VERY intrested in something like this.

I believe a full stand alone system would let you control your VVTL-i. I think the Apex-i Power FC does this but I heard the software isn't available to control it yet. not very sure though...

The power FC can control it. It doesnt get you too musch gains. Lift is not very beneficial until the engine is spinnig some high RPM's. My friend has it in is prelude, and even if you lower it to say 3,000. You dont feel gains untill around 4800-5000 on a prelude, so for us, you wouldnt feel gains untill around 5500-5800. Not sure on were on the engine, i have always wondered that if lift hurts the engine????

5500 rpms would be great! we would land in lift everytime we shifted. its hard to land in lift right now cause of the high rpm. where can i get that power fc? and what do you mean it "can" control it? its not meant to or what? ill look into that controller.

if you lower the lift engagement, you'll most likely have to change a/f ratios

"can" is just reffering to the fact that you can do it with that unit. It will give you a lot more gains than just lift enguagment points. You are looking at aounr 1500 installed and tuned for this unit. Should give you around 190 wheel HP. Im not 100% sure the price on the unit. People at Passen use this on there race celica's. they are pushing around 210 whp on 00 gts engines.

i was told my my toyota tech friend that before vvtl-i controllers can be effective someone has to crack the code.toyota programs a code into the ecu that controls the operation of the lift.someone cracked the honda code years ago so software is readily available for vtec.people are working on the toyota code as we speak...hopefully it will be soon. thumbsup

Passen is a local shop. I think the 2zz is the only engine to use lift? So nobosy want to make it when they can only sell to celica owners. (not profitable) Passen doesnt even sell the unit pre-programmed for a celica. You would have to talk to the manufacturer.
the site for passen is www.passenmotorsports.com [passenmotorsports.com]

Again, they are just a local shop..
