i was at the carwash at ventura/havenhurst when i saw a black integra with type r labels...i thought (great another ricer that prolly don't know what a ITR is)...but then i looked closely (5 lug, no side molding, no moonroof) and i thought wow it IS an ITR. the guy saw me oogling at it and we took a ride around the block...holy crap!! it was awesome. i would have to say the type R has the best suspension set up stock, i could feel it's so much more stiffer than when i had trd strut/springs, rear stut bar, and front bar on my celi...i was very impressed. he liked my celi too (now equiped with only trd struts and rear strut bar) but i was just floored at how well that thing handled...just my experience over the weekend

The Type-R is pretty over rated, the suspension is pretty stiff and the way the steering is set-up, it tends to grab every little imperfection on the road and pulls towards it, which isn't too ideal for high speeds on back roads, let me tell you.
I use to own a 2000 Phoenix Yellow Type-R, and it was cool and all but it felt like I was driving a car from the 80's the way the interior was set-up, the awful console features and I bought it in the summer so having no AC was a bit of a bitch and no moonroof. I knew it was suppose to be a pure Performance vehicle that was half way to being gutted, and it wasn't that great.
So I traded that sucker in, I got the GTS which has almost the same Performance, plus it had the luxuries features I wanted and I'm sure if I added to my GTS similar parts the ITR had like sway bars and other suspension that the Celica would own the Type-R like nothing.

My friend used to have a ITR. The thing was okay... nothing great, in my view. I used to really love it, but that was before I started test driving cars and bought my Celi. Pretty much everything I drove, from the Mazdaspeed to the Eclipse GT seemed nicer.
