Filter options for Injen CAI?

Has anyone out there tried putting different filters on their Injen CAI?

The factory Injen filter is closed on the top, I see other brands in all the magazines that have filter elements on the top of the cone in addition to the side. Seems like these filters would be less restrictive and allow more air in because of more filter surface area.

Blitz makes a cone filter that uses fine metal mesh instead of oiled cloth.

the injen filter is really just a k&n filter.

not sure about how 'restrictive' other filters are..but i do know the k&n filter is excellent

Most of the other complany's (AEM/Injen) filters are just retagged K&N filters. SOme don't come with an "air-horn" built into the top though.
You can always buy an K%N X-Stream filter. Its just a regular cone air filter with the open top.
TRD also makes a cone air filter. From looking at it it looks to long to fit, but it may be worth a try.
On top of that there are blitz filters that can be adapted to fit your cai and actually add noteable gains. They're like $200+ though, so maybe try a group buy.

My friend with a GTS put an Apex-i filter on his Injen CAI and according to him he loves it, says he feels more gains in hp. Blitz =

I kinda have the same question on my mind. My Injen CAI filter is kinda worn out, but I'm not sure what filter i should get to replace the original without sacrificing power!

i recently replaced my injen filter that came with my CAI with a bigger injen one. the one that came with my Intake was only about 2/3rds the size of the one i got now

I've read a lot of people using the Apex-i filter, but it looks really small compare to the Injen filter... just not sure if it's better for Performance or worst!

It's all about getting more oxygen and fuel into the internal combustion chamber. Turbos, Superchargers, Nitros, CAI, and SRI that utilize High Flow Low Resistance Air filters are all part of the means to the same end, which is getting more oxygen and fuel in to the engine.

Now, What makes an air filters high flow and Low Resistance? Two things:

1. permeability of the filter element membrane.
2. Surface Area of the filter element membrane.

Altering either one of the two above variables will result in a change in the amount of Oxygen flow into the internal combustion chamber, and thus a change in the amount of and efficiency of the fuel burn, thus how much force and power the engine can produce.
Now I don't know about you, but when there is a change in my engine's power output I feel it.

If I put a filter on the end of my CAI that has more surface area and higher Permeability than that of the previous fitler can anyone guess what will happen?

What makes an air filters high flow and Low Resistance? Two things:

1. permeability of the filter element membrane.
2. Surface Area of the filter element membrane.

In short it depends on what the filter is made of how much surface area it has.

One way of gaining greater surface area is to have deeper pleats in the filter element.

The smaller the surface area the smaller the Performance gain, but do not forget about permeability of the filter element membrane.
