" For the last few years, Porsche has been the worlds most profitable car company, with revenue exceeding 10 percent of its sales. Production has increased since 1993, exceeding 50 000 units in 2001-02, almost equallyshared by the Boxster and 911. Thanks to the Cayenne, that number has now hit 74 000.

Until recently, the Boxster and 911 have had very little competition. But with a redisgned Mercedes-Benz SLK at one end and the Aston Martin DB9 at the other, Porsche faces pressure across the board.
The Boxster, with it's mid-engine layout and the addition of a coupe to its roadster basek, should fare well. But the 911 is differant because it appeals to a wider range, from diehards to graying enthusiasts. The former want a real sports car, accepting tradeoffs in comfort. The latter want good handling but with some degree of luxury. They don't care about the extra second it takes to reach 100 mph and they probably look with envy at the large trunk of their neighbor's sedan.
Porsche has tried to please the widest possible group of 911 customers. But it is somewhat worrying that the best seller has been the 4S Cabrio with Triptronic transmission - the heaviest, slowest and least agile 911."

The word is, new rear, permanent roof but otherwise the same car but for the same or very similar price to that of the Boxster roadster.. which is very pleasing for many Porsche fans to finally hear. I am very glad they made this car and the numbers should be interesting when the car is released and tested.. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes as popular as the 350Z. Now this is a car I'd trade my Celica in for if I could afford the insurance.. maybe I'll consider it when it comes out.

I've always wanted a hardtop boxster...

Problem is, I hoped it'd look more like a boxster with a hardtop... and less like... that

Roughly yes, $42 600 USD and $60 650Cnd. .. I guess it's a bit more than I remember them being. I think they were priced at high $40k's Cnd. before.

I heard they wanted to make it a bit cheaper as to compete with the 350 and RX-8 and what not...
