I have a friend with a 00 celica GT and he bought a "knight rider" type neon light; the one that flashes back and forward
he wants to install the neon light on his celica so that when he presses his 'alarm on', the neon lights up and when he press his 'alarm off' to drive his car the neon is off
Do anyone know how to install it so it does that feature
any input is appreciated

With this alarm, when you push the 'alarm on', it also locks the doors as well right? Well, you could mechanically do this by: Taking off the the door cover thing on the inside, and running the wires and a push button switch to the locking mechanism. When the door gets locked, the mechanism also engages the push button, creating a closed circuit for the neon bar. When the doors get unlocked, it will dis-engage the push button, thus opening the circuit.

You could wire it to the parking lights in the headlight since they blink when you hit lock/unlock. But the catch would be you would always have to have you headlights on when using the neons.

My above idea will work, only if you want the knight rider chaser to stay on as long as the doors are locked.

On certain cars, it looks ok. A couple of friends have had me make an LED chaser for their scoops. It looks pretty good actually. A friend of mine in an SVX had me put one in his aftermarket scoop, so when he stepped on the gas, the more he reved the faster the chaser went. It was pretty easy...just needed a nice POT. thumbsup

yea the whole lock switch would be pretty cool. Kinda funny if he was rolling through the ghetto he tries to lock his doors and neons start flashin everywhere.

A few friends of mine have left theirs on for a couple hours and nothing. I know grcelica has neons, so he might be able to tell you how long he keeps his on at night. thumbsup

man if you connect it to the door and whenever the door is lock the light will come on, you should know that any alarm will lock the door by itself once you inside and turn the key to ON. The only way to go is if you have aftemarket alarm it come with a LED blinker, the red led blinker, just that that led out and behind it you will see 2 wires (red and black) splice the wire, you can cut off 2-3inches in case you want to put that led back on..connect your neon onto the led's wire then you're all set, that way it only blink or light up when it's armed..plus if the neon doesn't draw too much power then you won't drain your battery..Good luck.

I forgot to turn my neons off when i went to the movies once so they were on for about 2 1/2 hours on stock battery and it turned over fine. But extended periods of time would be a problem.
