Practice on a circuit board that you can take out of something such as a toy or old phone.

All it involves it touching the solder with the iron, and sucking it up to remove the solder. The solder will harden almost immediately after the iron is taken away from it, so you may need to practice.

In order to apply solder, touch the iron to the plate that the solder came off of, and once the plate is heated up, touch the solder to the plate and it will melt onto it and harden to secure whatever you are soldering.

hold the soldering pen on ur right hand and on ur left hand hold the tweezer..it's easier to pick up with a tweezer.

Yeah, soldering is pretty easy, you just need to practice a little. Im a 'Master Fabricator in Electronics Technology', or so my NOTCI Test said. I dont suggest using tweezers, because they CAN get hot. Though, they do have heat resistant tweezers if you have to use them. If I ever needed a 3rd hand (mostly when no circuit board was available, I either A) Had someone hold a part for me, or B) Used needle nose pliers (set on the table holding the part). What I usually did, was get a length of around 8" of solder (depending on the application). I then wrapped it around my pinky, ring, and middle fingers in loops and ran it to my index and thumb. That way your 'solder' hand is still flexible, and you dont have to keep getting more solder, or carry around the bundle of solder. Then do as slidr said. Also, make sure you get the right kind of solder. Soldering can be hard at first, and you will prolly get burned a few times from it.
