As some of you may know, I recently purchased and installed some 17 inch Moda R6's on my Celica, and havn't gotten it lowered yet.

I called a few tire places today to get a quote for the installation, and not one of them wants less than $200 dollars to do it. Is this right, because I think I am getting reamed without any type of lube, and these assholes don't care about my asshole.

And I also asked them what I would need if I decided to drop my car 2 inches with the Eibach Pros, and they said that I should be fine.

I thought you needed some sort of alignment kit or something (someone please tell me what it is exactly so I can ask for it from them)?

Anyways, am I getting screwed or not? I would do it myself, but I'm pretty sure that the spring would fire into my baby maker and screw me for life. I'll just leave it to the pros.

Also, if I went two inches all around, would I be scraping on shit a lot? If so, should I go with something a little less extreme instead? And does lowering your car two inches mean that you have to join a gang, or will it not look that bad?

Thanks.

$200 seems fair. My coilovers were $300 and as for for an alignment kit, you don't need one for the rear but I read some where that you'll need one for the front, and it'll only be $26 + shipping. Two inch drop is pretty low for the front, so you'll definetely scrape if you're not careful.

So you think that I should go with a shorter spring kit? Remember, I'm getting springs, not coilovers, so I believe that the drop will be uniform around the car. At least I believe that holds true for most spring kits.

If you plan on getting a body kit down the road, then I would not lower it that much, I would go with Tein or anything around a 1.4" drop. If you don't plan on getting a kit or ir you're gonna go with a WW lip (which wont lower the front) then I would go ahead & drop it 2". You'll just have to go side way on steep banks.

I guess I'll go with the 1.4 drop.

The $200 dollar install for just springs is a little high. $100-$150 is about right. You can always call the company you buy from or whoever makes them and have them recommend a good place to install near your home. That's what I did the second time around and wish I did it first. Plan on something for camber adjustment for the rear if you get it dropped way low. Just for example I have camber links in the back and nothing in the front (probably will need crash bolts there). The morons that installed the links moved the right one out to compensate for the lowering, but left the left side as stock settings and it's way off. The front without anything isn't that bad. I have a bit of plastic hanging from my stock front bumper and I scrap that just going down the highway over bridge joints, so it might not be a good idea to go around 2" with the kit.

Get 2 people to do it. You an a buddy to help ya out and for moral support.

200bucks too high. i would say 50-125 tops. If its your first time lay out a 5 hour time, also if you get it professionally done they will say 2-3hours come back in 4:)

"And does lowering your car two inches mean that you have to join a gang, or will it not look that bad?"

I've been thinking that same thing about my drop, but too late I already bought Tanabe springs. I just look at my car now and then imagine it 2 inches lower and that seems real low.

But in the pictures on this site all of the cars with 2" drop look great, but I'm wondering if they'll look different when I'm towering over them. I'll find out soon enough.

Unfortunately there are no gangs down here in Mississippi so I may have to start my own.

Should I get the cambers even if the drop is less than 2 inches, or are they not really necessary?
