well two weeks ago i decided to replace my lift bolts (which upon inspection were not broken but only worn...so good for me!). i decided to change them with the "new and impoved" bolts that toyota supplied that is supposedly stronger and longer lasting. ever since i changed the bolts i have noticed that lift is not as..."violent". when i used to hit it it pushed me back on my seat like a mo-fo but now it seems...smoother. lift still engages and i'm still going faster, it's just that i don't get that kick in the ass effect. i don't know how i could ever have screwed up changeing a lift bolt (a monkey could do it)...my theory is:

a)when the bolts were worn there was a power dip which made lift spike up more when it engaged...but now that the bolt has been replaced the power s smoother and lift is not as violent. it now feels more like my friend's gsr when his v-tec hits...

b)the ecu needs time to get accustomed to the changes (this theory is pretty far off though)

c)i fucked up somewhere and my bolts are ready to spring out and shoot though my hood...lol rofl (this is rather unlikely...anyone who can turn a wrench can change the lift bolt)

what do you think guys?

you're getting used to lift.

I felt the same "lose of power" then my car was in the shop for 6-8 weeks and WHAM it threw me back again. thumbsup

I think he meant 3 days of light use, as in only 3-4 hours total "engine on" time

just wait til your GT hits higher mileage wink I need to pop one open for sure but VVT wears on the same bolts which a GT should also have. so over time these same bolts may break. thats just a theory though wink

anyways I have no idea why it happens it just does. lol I'm not like a big mechanic guy or anything. I've just taken so damn many apart I know what happens. lol
