You can get as wide of rims as you want ... it all depends on the offset of the rims that make them fit or not.
However too much or too little offset will start to affect the handling and increase the strain your putting on the suspension.
For a 8" rim in the front your probably going to get wide tires as well so you'll probably need a offset around +30
As for the 8.5" rim, same as above except if your going with a even wider tire ... then your going to have to figure out which offset would correctly make the front and rear line up.
This of coarse will most likely look good but wilb be totally not practical.
