in the drive thru lane at mcdonalds last night this guy in a black blazer starts backing up... i lay on my horn and he keeps going right into the front right drivers side. there is a softball size dent in the drivers side quarter panel and continues into the bumper. the plastic cover for the headlight on that size was also scratched!!! im pissed! well i took it to the insurance company and he has to pay for all the damage. my question is how much is a OEM front bumper for a 2000 GT? How much more is a TRD front bumper? you think there is a chance I could get my dealer to get me a TRD bumper and pay the difference of the insurance check?

Here's prices for the Stock Components

https://celicahobby.com/gallery/index.php/category/tech-parts-catalog

Just read down the list and find what you need.

As the TRD, sure you can do whatever you want with the insurance check, you just tell your body shop what to order and then you'll just owe any difference the new parts create.

I have no idea the price on an OEM TRD bumper but I think they are expensive.

Usually you take your car to the insurance specified repair shop (some insurance companies don't care what shop you go to)...

the shop writes up an estimate of everything that is needed to fix your car back to the way it was before accident plus the labor costs - the ins agent aproves it and goes away (this is how much money you have to play with)

after the agent is gone, you can talk with the bodyshop about getting aftermarket parts instead of factory replacement parts. Some shops can get these parts for you - other shop will tell you, "get the parts you want within the next X days and then Ill begin work" - if you cannot get them within X amount of days, then the shop may begin work without those parts

Either way, that shop has only a set amount of time in which they can submit their final repair bill to the ins company for reimbursement - so I sugest you get whatever you need, as quickly as possible.

...

One thing to be cautious about, sometimes the aftermarket parts require much more exspensive work to be done for installation, rather than just replacing with factory components.

ie - someone drives into the lower quarter-pannel of your car and now you want an air-vent placed there... the bodyshop can fix that quarter pannel for $800... or you can buy air vents for $150, have them cut both sides of your car for $300, then install the air vents for another $500, then repaint for $500 (see how things start getting espensive here...)
