Out of curiosity.. do mods improve the value of your car if you were to sell it? or does it make any difference as far as re-sale?

they could/can actually decrease the value..and if you do a trade in the dealer could care less.. spineyes

It all depends who your gonna sell the car to.. but for the most part.. thumbsdown.. but heck i'll mod my car cause it makes me happy grin

Yea.. I'll probably still mod mine.. but seems like a waste in a way.. to put thousands into your car and have it not pay off later if you wanted to sell it. Unless you removed the mods and sold them seperatly. hum..

^^yah that works.. take off all the stuff later one..

for example look at billy's car on eBay..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2474136502

for the amount of money and time he spent no one whats to buy it at $20,ooo. The main thing as I've seen a lot of people say is .. do it cause it makes YOU happy.. and yah you could strip off the parts in the future should you decide to sell it..But I plan and will mod a GTS but use it as an awsome daily driver =) but I'll have to wait to gett rid of my GT Auto =(

it depends on the market you are trying to sell it too..You can get it from a dealership for less then that, since they dont care for that, and they'll prob end up taking it all off, or some or most of it. Some one who is looking for a car like that will pay the price, because to him, that car is worth it...

imo, depends on the buyer...

say you have a car worth 21...
and a seller has it modded out, 5k put into it
and he wants to sell it...

so he needs to make 22, so that's what he is selling it for...

now the buyer, wants a celica..and plans on modding it..
they could pay for a brand new car more than 22k
or buy a 21k car, then mod it, putting more than 1k into it...

or buy a 22k car already modded...

privately, it works different than buying a car through the dealer...

depends on your buyer..some people look for modded cars and take a look at them before they buy...to them, paying a little more is worth it if they can get a lot out of it.

Everyone I ever knew who had changed their car with lowering springs, exhaust, or whatever import or domestic never got back the money they put into the car. Even things that you did for a couple of dollars like painting the console or engine plastics might deter some from buying your car in the future and you'll be stuck changing things back to stock. What you think looks great and performs great might not go so well with the next person and they won't pay premium for the parts and labor you added to your ride. If you mod your car don't think of it as an investment for that future sell. The money you put into your ride should only be for your own satisfaction and enjoyment.

^^exactly...

but when you do sell the car, you just gotta hope there's a buyer that wants the car as is.

No offense to anyone here, but with the state of some of the Celicas I've seen you better pray. Hard. That's not including your Celica by the way.
