ok, so i'm ready to buy springs for my ride. the problem is i was going to go for the trds and not worry about the shocks as they are compatibe w/ the stock shocks and will wear out normally, but yesterday one of my friends told me that he can get me teins or tanabes for $120 shipped. now my question is that i know that ne thing that's not trd will need new shocks with them, but the tiens r not much lower than the trd springs so will i need new shocks with that teins too, or will i be fine with my stock shocks? i know that with the tanabes i will need new shocks so the questions is will i be needing new shocks with the teins or will the shocks wear out normally. thnx and below is a pic of my car.

You will need new struts eventually but more than likely it will be a while before this is necessary so you don't have to worry about that. It's not like you need to change your struts right when you install the springs.

TRD would def be a good drop...

no matter what, springs wear out stock shocks, just a matter of time...

the Tein or Tanabe will do the same as TRD, you don't need aftermarket shocks, you can keep the stock...
if you really want shocks, get the TRD combo...

but i think TRD drop would be real nice...but Tanabe would be too. thumbsup

well vsgts, isn't the tanabe drop a 2" drop. so won't i "need" the shocks with those and a cambe kit, and alignment and etc. but the teins i heard drop it like an inch and a quarter in the front and a little more in the back. so that's why i was thinking that more than likely my stock shocks will wear out normally with the teins. also i have 30K miles on my car. plz, confirm what i said is true. thnx

oh by the way i have 17s on my car with 45 profile tire. i live in michigan, where it's snows a lot and there are a lot dithes and pot holes, so that's why i'm not leaning towards the tanabes as the 2" might be too much for michigan roads and weather. thus i just need someone to postively confirm that the tein springs will wear out the shocks normally and preferebely a pic of tein drop. thnx

they may need camber kit, but you can still ride on stock shocks...

I wouldn't go Tanabe though if it's 2"...i think that's too much for your celica, you have 18's??
isaac has TRD drop on 18's and it looks good...so i would stick in the 1-1.5 range.

so how soon exactly b4 the stock shocks actually wear out. i mean like how many miles do they last on stock springs?

and i have decided to buy the teins because they would give me a nice yet noticable drop with my 17"! thnx everyone, esp. vsgts.

not for a while, and yes, I would have said to go with Tein cause TRD is nice, but i thought you had 18's and I have 17's also with 40's with TRD and I would like a bigger drop, just can't

good choice!!

they will wear out differently dependingon yoru driving style.

my buddy wore out his stock struts in less than a year with progress springs.

so if you drive hard they will wear out faster.

if you can deal with a crap ride then you can let tehm go longer.

i drive on about 65 miles every week day, i have had the car since july 2002. i have 30K miles on it and it was bought brand new. there are several pot holes in michigan roads and that's how my car takes the abuse! so i believe i should be ok, plus i hard the teins and trd's aren't that much different than the stock springs so i should be ok. i just got done telling my friend to get the teins for me. so they should be here next week. i'll post pics after i get those on.

Tanabe also has springs that give you a TRD drop, so it wont wear out you stock struts as fast as the 2" ones. Tanabe is the only company that offers three different springs with different springs rates & drops grin
