Car And Driver

Hope its not a repost, but has anyone seen the new car and driver boost edition, where they put the TRD 1.8l supercharger in the celi and they had a custom Hood to go with it from TRD. It was a nice Hood, looked good, didnt look to wierd, i liked it very much, so why doesnt this Hood get released to the market so that we can buy it and finally be able to get the supercharger!!

you cant see it online, it just did come out on the newstands, you probably have to wait, a couple of weeks or months before they put it on the net, but check it out on the magazine, they have some other cars too, but the celi is right on front of the magazine, its red!!

I think I might have the answer. The new Celica is due in late 2005. TRD will probably now be more focusing on the 8th generation than the 7th generation. Either that, or TRD just doesn't like us Celica owners tuning up our rides with their "extreme" Performance parts! spineyes spineyes

its just funny, because the answer to all of our probs with the Hood for the celi is right there, they got it done, why wont they just make it on the market now, damn, they dont understand how many people will buy it, i know i would, i want fi, but until i can get this car away from being my daily driver, i wouldnt mind supercharger, but oh well...would be nice to finally have a Hood that fits it, and like i said, it looks nice as hell!!

Toyota probably figures there isn't a large enough market to distribute something like that, I"m surprised they even released a supercharger. But it wasn't that long ago that there was a rumor of the Celica being completely obsolete and I wouldn't be surprised if that really would be a near future decision by Toyota.

If a Hood actually exists for the damn thing, that's a huge step in the right direction. Even if TRD never releases it, someone else could still make a similar one based off the design.

If they release the damn thing, I'll be one of the first people with the Hood and s'charger. Another 30lbs of torque down low would make a HUGE difference in us auto GTS's.

I know I'd be one of the first in line with payment ready if the Hood ever gets released... it'd be great to read that article. I might just go out and actually buy a magazine - iamstfu

the supercharger that TRD sells for the corolla and whatever is supposed to bring in like 40 hp, but the s/c that they had on this celi, was chrome and did not look like the s/c that TRD sells, so i dont know if it was a differnt one and who made it, might have been different, though it still needed a Hood for clearance, so if it is different, it still has the clerance issue

You are exactly right. If one watched the Car and Driver episode with the Celica, they had said that the Hood had somewhat of a big bump on the passenger side because that was where the supercharger was located.

i'm frustrated with the TRD department of toyota, they haven't developed anything for the gts.

other manufacturers have but they are charging five to seven grand for their superchargers.

somebody has got to start a write-in campaign to toyota or something and get them on the freakin' ball...
