had quite an eventful (and frustrating) day today. got all the wires and everything ran no problem but never could get my mp3 deck in.

see: https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_1869939589_0_collapsed_5__1.html

anyway i was sold a connector that would supposedly fit right in and connect but none of them would fit. then i was told by the same people 4 hours later that their connector wouldn't fit, and that there wasn't one in the market that would. they said i have to splice into all 11 wires (i think), extend them to the dash, and splice them again to connect to the deck. is this true? there's gotta be a simplere way to do this.

my interior is pretty much torn apart frown

check crutchfield out - they have all the harnesses, adapters, etc which you'll need...

the connector or harness on the gts celica is meant to be used before the amp, therefore you must remove the glove box and find the stock amp which is behind it and then use the harness on the wires that connect to the amp, thus by passing the amp for a face installation. hope this helps thumbsup

not sure i'm following you though. the connector didn't fit into those in the picture. i still have to splice all those wires and extend them over far enough to connect in the middle console correct?

whatever you do, DO NOT USE an amp'ed player with the factory amp, it will fry.

You have to by pass the amp, unplug the harness from the amp, splice into the wires, and run those splices back into the harness from your amp.

you'll also have to splice into power, ground, dim, etc. on the harness from the old CD player.

I used to have the cables written down, but I went back to stock and must have deleted it frown

so is that the same problem with the GT too, or is it just the GTS with the premium sound?

as far as i know you don't have an amp in the GT, so you should be set.
