I'm going Celica shopping tomorrow!

I'll be looking for a 2000-2001 GTS (or 2003+, but probably not, due to money problems)

It's been suggested that I ask if the belt tensioner or engine lift bolts were ever repaired, and I was wondering if anyone has any other things I should be aware of. Like other common problems or concerns, things that I should know about, you know. wink

Thank you folks! grin

- Whatever year you get, steer away from the 2002. The rev limiter is set 500rpm lower. You can't land in lift when racing.

- Get a manual. (duh) spineyes

- Check around the hood for paint chips. Our cars tend to get quite a few of these...

belt tensioner, and lift bolts problems are the only big ones. just be ready to bargain, dont give them a price that you are willing to pay in the beginning cause they might give you cheaper than you were estimating(hopefuly). if buying used certified, complain about the color that it isnt ur favorite, complain about every little thing to get a bit discount off somehow. mileage too much and doesnt match the car price at all. no body kit and expensive without one. bad shift feeling... whatever you can say

oh yea, dont forget to test drive it lol
push to the limits, and be very patient. dont just jump on deals. if you cant get it from someone for the deal you want or the precise color you want, wait for next week, or else ull regret it. dont let time fuck you up

Gotcha, gotcha. I planned on being VERY picky. (And even if I fall in love with it, I'll be disinterested as best I can!)

I'm also gonna check out multiple dealers, and I'll make sure they're well aware of that fact wink

(EDIT): Oh, and as for color, I think I'll be looking for either carbon blue, black, or silver (probably in that order). But it depends what they have, and how much I like it. smile

Yeah be sure to inspect the body CLOSELY. I was overwhelmed by the beauty that is Celica when I bought mine and didnt even notice all the little chips in the hood til after I bought it. frown
Also complain about it pulling to the sides and stuff when you drive it. Just something else to complain about grin

ME TOO! i noticed tons of tiny little rock chips after i took her home and washed it, anyways you can get a bottle of touch up paint for toyota to take care of the big ones.

also be sure to check about tensioner and lift bolts

I wouldnt worry too much about a warranty if you plan on doing major mods since most of them will void the warranty.
