how easy...or i should say how hard is it to change lift bolts?
and if they are broken, how much would a dealership usually charge for that? thanks.

Easy to change them if they aren't broken.

If they are, I believe they will quote you with 6 or so hours of labor.


Bottom line...expensive.


I'm changing mine next weekend when I get the bolts in. I have over 75k miles on my 2000 GTS and still have the factory lift bolts in, and lift works fine, but who knows. They may snap in the process of them being taken out, which would suck a lot. I'll let you all know what happens in a week.

basically, get the lift bolts replaced before they break - obviously

just remember.." Lefty loosy, Righty tighty.. turn counterclockwise to loose and clockwise to tight.. I broke the bolt's cap that held the stock ground wire down to the Tranny..turn the wrong way..big mistake, i thought i screwed up the car..hehe..but there are 2 ground point under the batery..found out WAYYYY later..Good luck..i'm changing my lift bolt when my 00 gts hit 30k..it's only 27k right now.

Ummm, I don't see how you could turn a bolt the wrong way, but I was referring to the process of turning the bolt the correct way to loosen it.

The bolt is torqued down pretty hard, so even while loosening it up, it could still snap if it's in a brittle state.

are there instructions somewhere where these bolts are located etc etc?
