Need help with C.E.L. P0440 & P0446
I know it says evaporative system vent circuit malfunction and what not. They come on every 10 days or so, and I've been resetting them.
I don't have an air intake system, its stock. I've been looking for vacuum leaks, but can't find any. Any ideas???

Check the gas tank cap. Make sure you screw that on all the way. The CEL goes off on toyotas if not screwed in all the way.

thanks, but I'm afraid its not the gas cap. I always make sure its tight.

worth a shot. An evap system code is not a good one to find. You may have to take it to the dealer for some work.

This is from the shop service manual:

Possible problems with code P0440:
-Hose or tube crakced, hole, damaged or loose seal
-Fuel tank cap incorrectly installed
-Vacuum hose crakced, hole, blocked, damaged or disconnected
-Fuel tank crakced, hole or damaged
-Charcoal canister cracked, hole or damaged
-Open or short in vapor pressure sensor circuit
-Vapor pressure sensor
-Fuel tank over fill check valve cracked or damaged
-ECM

The possible problems for P0446 are along the same lines as these. Seems to be there's too much crap that can go wrong with cars.
