Painting center console...

i primered my center console.. and now im going to paint it, but before i paint it, what grit sand paper should i use to make the primer smooth?

1) Wetsand 400 grit
2) Primer
3) Wetsand 400 grit
4) Primer
5) Wetsand 400 grit
6) Paint using high temp engine paint
7) Repeat step 6
8) Clearcoat using high temp engine paint
9) Repeat step 8

Let dry for a good 3-4 days

What steven said ... although I recommend getting it professionally painted ... IMO it comes out looking way better and is more durable.
