I know this great mechanic from Germany. He's like in his early 50s. He said he's been working on cars in Germany for 30 years. He fixes all of my family members' cars, except for mine, because I'm hard headed and only want the dealership to work on it for the things that I don't know how to fix/maintain. So anyways, he said that about every 3 weeks to a month, you have to drive your car "hard" with "full gas" to "clean out" the engine in a way. He said that over time, if you drive it like "a woman" (nice and slow with no abuse), then the valves get even more dirtier and clogged. He said by pushing the car hard, it would actually be good and clean it out in a way. So, I've been doing that for about 2 months now, and just drive about 3-5 miles of constantly hitting lift. I've noticed, it might just be me though, that my engine has not been vibrating much, if not at all now in idle.

It makes sense... staying in lift constatnly though? That must really eat up gas, and seems a little extreme, maybe just hitting lift of the go until you're up to cruising speed!?!

He's right... but no need to strain the engine... drive normally until the engine and gearbox is varm then you can make your accelerations and stuff... thumbsup

Humm funny.. my friend told me the same thing.. He said that if I drive my car like a woman, it was going to clogg my injectors, or something like that.. hum so I started to press the pedal with a bit more pressure.. and is true, the car doens't vibrate.. humm funny.. tongue
He is like a mechanic but only for imports.. he owns a 98 Prelude.. and its FAST, REALLY REALLY FAST rofl He has done so much work on his engine, is not even funny..! thumbsup

If the engine wasn't built t rev hard, it wouldn't.

I hit lift on a daily basis, roughly every 15 minutes laughsilly

My car runs as good, if not BETTER than when I got it from the dealer thans to careful maintenance, regular oil changes, and proper fuel.

I also use cleaner products on the injectors (in to the gas cleaners) I clean the sensors on the car, keep a clean air filter, clean the throttle plate as needed, and always use Mobil 1 with a K&N gold line filter.

And I STILL get 26-30 MPG.

"A redline a day keeps the carbon away"

thats what I have heard people say before. not necessary to be done every day, but pushing it burns off carbon build up.
