I tighten the throttle cable and my car idles at around 1900-2000 rpm. It's not bad it's louder at start and warms up faster, but I just want to know if I'm doing it wrong and will it affect my engine or anything else.I know that I'll waste more gas and the the engine will heat up faster and you use up your brakes more, other than that it's great. It sounds louder when parked and it kinda gives you and advantage for starting at a higher rpm...!!!!

Sounds like you overtightened your throttle wire. I would suggest looseing it up a bit since it will have adverse affects on gas mileage and it will also wear down your clutch faster. It's like always having your foot on the gas.

how does it wear the brakes more? It will only wear out the clutch if you give it gas as well. At 2000 rpms, no gas should be needed to take off.

I stil don't know why you have to push the brakes more. AHA! I figured it out. You drive an automatic. You don't need to worry about the clutch then, duh!!! cause you don't have one. I don't know if that will do any damage on an automatic transmission, but here is why the clutch would wear faster:

The clutch engages with the flywheel. The flywheel spins with your crank. The higher the rpms the faster the crank turns, which means the flywheel turns faster. When you normally take off, 2000rpms is plenty to get you moving. So you could take off without pushing the gas. If you do puch the gas, you will be at what 2300-2500. Well, your clutch will slip just a little bit(not even noticable), but the more you do it, the more the clutch will slip/wear because the flywheel is spinning faster.
Understand?

Don't you already have to press the gas before you engage the clutch?

Supercharged, no you don't. Try just letting off of the clutch really slowly. This will teach you how to work the clutch really well.

yeah, i guess you dont need to worry about the clutch since you dont have one, duh, i should've checked that out first. But now when you're stopped and still in drive, you're putting quite a bit of stress on your engine. I dont now all that much about torque converters, but i know that since the torque your engine isnt being put to the wheels, its making you press the brakes harder and putting more stress on engine mounts. I could be wrong, but i like to think i know what i'm talking about.

You guys are right sry for doubting. But I kinda untighten the cable since my car started to overheat !!!
I think it does do something to the mounts cause when I brake and stop all the way the engine moves.Oh well everything is alright now it idles at 1,650-1,450.(No more overheating and engine movement when stopping) thumbsup
