I did a quick rate-quote from progressive and found out that GT and GTS is the same price for me and MORE expensive than MR-S. All cars were 01's, did I do something wrong or is this correct?

I got rated for independent 16 year old: GT & GTS = $5500ish/6 months and MR-S = $3650ish standard coverage.

I hope I'm right because then I'll have a reason to get a convertible!

That's about to be expected.

At 16, if it has 4 wheels and a engine, you're looking at high insurance premiums.

I have Progressive (full coverage, can't remember my deductable off the top of my head) and I pay round $156/month. I don't think my deductable is very high, so that might be a reason that it's still a little higher...

Hmmm I need to find this out. It might be State Farm for me!!

I'm sure it'll be less on my family's state farm plan, those numbers were done if I were to get it independent of them. So i'm look at 150ish/month for me?

I figure MR-S must be cheaper because insurance can't rate what people don't report and since not a lot of MR-S's out there they don't get as many accident reports as the celis.

I'd only pay about 400/6 months with Allstate.
That with the California state minimum coverage though.

Actually, I just called progressive (cause everyone on here pays tons less than I do, and I was like WTF wtf wtf), and found out that my stepdad put it under his business name (commercial policy = $$$$$)...I got a quote from them for a policy just for me, and had them pull my record...My record is CLEAN!!! TOTALLY!!! eek eek, they said they'd keep my coverage and quoted me at $1216 for 6 months...I was like ummmmm, yeah, I'll call you tomorrow when I get paid and let you know. I'm pumped grin thumbsup

i'm 21 with no tickets and been driving for 5 years, $137.50 a month. My brother got a miata and wow his insurance is higher than mine just because it's a convertible and not a hard top. So I think MR2 will be more insurance for you because it's consider a convertible from what i think

Uh no. I'm 20, one speeding ticket (when I got my first car), I pay $325/mo through Progressive. I've been driving for over 3 years, and I drive a lot better than most people with more experience.
