I had read the previous posts about this stuff and everyone that replaced their transmission oil with Redline or some other high quality oil loves it. I am getting my tranny flushed Tuesday and I asked the Service manager if he wouldn't mind adding Redline after the flush. He told me if I had 100,000 miles on my car he would not do it because the oil is so good and slippery that I would have problems and they had problems in the past with high mileage Toyota cars and high quality transmission oils. Is this guy for real or is Toyota giving me more bull? My car currently is at 75,000 miles and they will gladly put Redline in for me. What happens when I hit 100,000 miles, obviously I am not going to flush the tranny again with only 25,000 more miles on it? Should I be worried if I do it, should I not even listen to that guy, or should I just have them put in Toyota's tranny oil?

I know. I was just wondering if this guy is right should I use Redline with my car approaching high mileage. To me it sounds like more Toyota nonsence.

Well it seems the mechanic at Toyota was half right. With a little research and a call to Redline it seems that certain Redline oils may damage or be bad for our transmissions even if it's a 75W90 like Toyota recommends. Redline recommends and my research also points to Redline's MT-90 which is a GL-4 SAE 75W90 which is perfect for our transmissions. Other Redline products are similar, same viscosity, but MT-90 is the way to go direct from Redline's reps. I heard not to go with the 75W90NS which is a GL-5 lubricant, even though in the manual it says gear oil API GL-4 or GL-5, as it can be damaging to the syncros. I will have probably 2 or 3 quarts leftover if anyone else wants to change out their fluids. This is being done on Saturday, I hope its worth the extra money and time I spent. I also picked this up for s**ts and giggles...
SI-1's injector and valve detergent is a concentrated package of the most powerful high-temperature detergents available to clean gasoline fuel injectors, Intake valves and combustion chambers. SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner can clean injectors to nearly 100% efficiency in one treatment. The cleansing effect on injector deposits can raise fuel economy approximately 12% or even greater, depending on the condition of the injectors. Although many gasolines advertise injector cleanliness, GM presented a paper to the SAE which indicates that their customers encountered injector plugging with all major brands of gasoline (SAE 861533). SI-1 also contains detergents and a synthetic upper cylinder lubricant which will help clean the Intake valves, pollution control valves, combustion chamber deposits and carburetors. One bottle of SI-1 to a tank of fuel can reduce octane requirements by two numbers. SI-1 also protects the fuel system from rust. One bottle treats up to 100 gallons. Safe for continual use.

i've tried that fuel injector cleaner from redline and i get the same results from chevron synthetic fuel treatment...all others don't seem to work as well.

MT-90 is specially formulated for trannys with syncro's.. if you use any of their other oils for your tranny it will eat at the syncro's.
