I currently have a 01 Celica GTS. From everyone's similar experience, I was wondering if driving my Celica in the rain with a injen cold air Intake is ok without doing any damage to the engine? Just to let you all know, it doesn't flood over here in Clarksville like it does in California and florida.

It should be fine, if it rains really hard then maybe it is not a good idea, but otherwise just puddles are something to worry about.. and since you said you have no puddles then no worries.

I haul ass through the rain. Never any problems. Just don't mistake your Celica for a boat and take it out on a lake. You'll be fine.

I've been through very heavy rain and never had any problems with it.

I heard this analogy a long time ago. Think of your CAI as a straw. If its barely touching the drink barely anything is going to come up. Only when the straw is completely submerged will it flood the straw.

If you're still worried get on of these:

I have one of those on my Typhoon CAI. It'll still allow water through if its submerged.

Why not just get a bypass valve if you are afraid of damaging your engine? confused

Bypass valve doesn't work on 7th gen Celicas

There's really nothing to worry about! Look in installs and there's a kind of plastic that you can attach to the inside of the wheel well liner so that nothing will get through the holes. The filter sits high enough, and concealed enough to be safe.

i just taped over the holes in mine right in front of the filter, that will keep mass amounts of water out from the wheels

^^great Idea..I was thinking it would probably be better to cover that out..as only dirt from the wheels might get in. tongue
