Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way you could possibly use one is on the exhaust cam since the Intake cam is controlled by vvti. And that may be only on the GT engine. Does the GTS use vvti on both cams?

I wasn't saying the mod, dipshit, I was saying that I doubt it gets up to 20 horsepower.

ya dipshit... and judging by your previous questions i can assume you dont know much about cars...

cam gears can yeild that much power, and those ones allow you to advance and retard timing.

retarding the timing will allow you to run bigger boost levels and spray more nitrous among many other tuning factors...

in an engine, the weight of internals make all the difference... and if those save 1 - 3 lbs of parasitic lag on the cams, they can for sure add upwards of 10 hp...

Why did you edit? Spend some more time using google?
And since you seem to love this mod so much, why don't you go out and buy it? Then tell us all about the 10+ hp you got from a mod you can purchase down at Circuit City. Vroom Vroom pussy...

I don't know if that would make any HP maybe a couple with a lot of testing/ trial and error for our cars. I may be wrong, but don't our engines adjust that anyway? Advance or retard the timing. I found it cheaper for $70 here if you want to try it... tuningdepot [tuningdepot.com]

ok all that ive heard about manipulating valve timing and retarding and advancing the valve timing. Now, wont this affect the vvt-i and vvtl-i?? So someone said about only on the exhaust this can be used, because vvt-i and vvtl-i controls the Intake cam...so why dont we stop the bs and really find out the info about this, besides the quality from the company, how about the gear itself??

if it saves weight, its a worthwile mod... i wouldnt advance or reatard timing with that... supposed to be up to ten degrees of advance or retard... but its inacurate.

for 129 is a good deal if the part is quality...

as far as adjusting the timing, i would go the rout of the PFC.

so your saying that it should be bought just for weight issues, but as far as tuning, you shouldnt mess with it and just leave it up to the PFC to do the tuning with?? Then why doesnt some company make only lighter sprocket gears without the ability to advance or retard the valve timing?

Some need to go out, get it, test it on their car and then post results. That way we'll see if there is a significant gain or not.

Wow thanks for the posts guys! Thanks Spatz. It sounds like its a worthwhile mod, especially since we can get it for only $70 (cheaper than AEM pulley). Now all I'm worried about is the quality of OBX products...

How would the install on the sprocket be?

(happy easter btw wave )

If you get into tech data on the gts youll see we have a timing chain not belt which is prolly cause the gts engine was built in conjunction with yamaha. Most toyotas have belts such as the gt. Also the ad you posted said n/a next to celica sorry .

What Spatzkid was saying is to not adjust the sprocket at all, and that merely the lighter weight on the sprocket itself would be greatly beneficial. Less weight on a cam sprocket does seem like it would make a pretty large difference imo

YEah, just adjust it, so that it stays the same size as the stock sprocket, then just use it for weight issues, like it was said, the less weight, might take away some of the parastitic effects, thus not adding more hp, but getting more hp out of the engine, might work, so question still stands...Guinea pigs anyone??
