Just out of curiosity.. how bad is it to drive with your E Brake on? I usually dont use my Ebake when I park, but I parked on a hill the other day and used it. When I got home that day I realized I drove the entire way home with the Ebrake on... The car didnt even feel different when I drove it. But I was just wondering how bad it is for the car? confused

it wears out your rear brakes faster. You didnt notice a smell when you were driving?

It must have only been on part way because if it was jacked up all the way you would have a hell of a time moving the vehicle.

E-Break works great on my car.. especially for sliding around corners in all types of weather! thumbsup

I know it works cause when I parked back at my place and released the Ebrake, the car sort of rolled a little. Ahh.. I'll never do that again..

Nope.. It wasnt that big of a distance.. little more than a mile.. Plus my windows were closed and I have an air freshner.. so.. if it made a smell.. I wouldnt have smelt it anyways.

Ahh I see. I've never done it with my Celi so I dunno if it smells alot. My moms RX300 though, that was real scarey till I knew it was the Ebrake. cry

I don't think you know the real feeling of the car...

You have had to feel something if you drove with the side brake on.

you should always leave the Ebrake up and the car in gear (in a manual, Park in an auto)

Leaving it in neutral, if the parking break fails, it will roll and could crash.

Leaving it in gear, should the brake fail, it will rest on the tranny.

I agree, cause in other cars I've felt it before.. but Ive only had my Celi for less than a week! They should make a lil beepy noise for when that happens.. *sigh*. frown

You drive a GT right? No strange noises or smells? I'm not sure of the settup in the GT, but the worst you could have done is scorched your shoes and all it takes is to turn your drum. The GTS and I think the GT uses different shoes or pads for the parking brake anyways. Then maybe an adjustment may be needed if that. A mile or so on your parking brake is no big thing. I will try to get the parking brake adjustment information for you. Just be careful next time and try not to let it happen again.

I found the info on brakes, just do a search "around". Ecelica for some reason won't let me add that info in any way, shape, or form. Sorry.

Cool. You just drove a short distance so it should be OK thumbsup I just thought that you would notice if the handle is engaged but I guess it's understandable. Enjoy the ride!!!
