I'm installing door speakers, why does the stock tweeter connect into a wiring harness that splits into 4 cables? Why are there four, and which two can I jump on to connect my 4 channel coming up through the center console?

Basically I'm confused about how to connect my tweeter and mids to my 4 channel in the back without running new wire into the door. Have speaker wire from the back run into the center console already.

Ok, better way to state my problem. I need to match up the wires I have at the speakers in the door to what wires show up in the center console. I've checked and the colors of wire at the speakers are not to be found in the center console. Make sense? ARGH!

Yeah, I've yet to see a *complete* stereo install guide on this site. Installs on how to replace just the head unit, or just new door speakers, etc. Nothing regarding an entire new system and the best ways to run amp/power wires, removing interior paneling, yadda yadda. Nothing like that all in one guide. I had to nitpick diff. sites for info for what I'm doing.

Also, the only thing I can think of to do on my own is to check the GT wiring diagram in the installs section and yank 1,2 and 5,6 I think it was. I'm guessing those are it, but which side is which I don't know.

ROFL @ post whore comment

Ok, yeah, I thought about replying here in case I could help someone in the future. It's all very simple once it's explained but for somone who has no clue seeing it for the first time I was like WTF is this? Here's the deal:

You have a turquoise colored wire and a blue wire which are a pair. Then you have a purple and a pink wire, which are a pair also. Turquoise/blue pair feeds the right door speakers, purple/pink pair feeds the left.

The setup is the same on both sides. The pair of wires hit the tweeter first, feeding it. But then the same pair of wires loop back out of the harness and connects to the 3-way. Pretty much just a daisy chain if that helps.

The part that threw me is that all the wires are bundled and wrapped with tape in such a way that the tape stops, and out of that comes six wires, four going into the tweeter and two going into the 3-way, *all* the same color. That's why I was like WTF, because there's only one pair of wires for audtio in the center console, so I was thinking is this thing splitting somewhere or does it hit another harness between the center console and the door or WHAT?!

Simple setup, just looks odd.

Edit: I finally just broke down and went and bought a damn multimeter that checks ohms which I used to discover (for myself) all this information and verify my connections for the install.

Oh, and those are harness connection points 1,2,5 and 6 for those of you doing installs who are too cheap/broke to buy the proper harness.

Personally I just went to Best Buy and told 'em I needed an install kit for single din on a 04 Celica and they hooked me up. Pretty much standard. Cost $15.00, cheap as hell.
