i'm planning on resealing my headlights this next week to try and get rid of my condensation problem, and i have a couple questions.
1) what do you use to reseal?
2) to open up my headlights, do i have to take off the bumper and completely remove the casing? i looked at the install section and was kinda confused, sorry i'm retarded. thanks

1 - use a silicone-based adhesive

2 - taking off the front bumper is not necessary but will make things easier

i've always taken off the bumper to remove the lights but i've also done other things at the same time (e.g. adding grilles, cutting opening for cai). i read you can just get the only "hidden" bolt by pulling out the bumper a little and maneuvering behind the fender plastic.

as for a sealant, i used the some "permatex" black rtv silicone. you can get it at any auto parts store or even hardware store. some use other types but permatex seems to be the closest to oem

I didn't open my headlight when i got condensation in my headlight. I just use hair dryer and dry up the water..but first i use small sponge to absorded most of the condensation first..the hair dryer it.. It work awesome. at first u'll get water spot but after a few days of warm weather it went away. I used the "all-purpose silicone" bought at Home Depot, it was white i should've get black silicon. I removed the bumper everytime i do something that i can't reach, like installing fog, and Intake..etc..

so what you're saying is that you took off the bumper, opened the headlight casing, and then used a sponge and a hairdryer right?

Ummm, taking off the bumper is necessary to get the headlight out and open, unless you can heat it up under the hood somehow and seperate it there.

I'd park the car in the sun for an afternoon, wait until the condensation appears to be gone, and then seal the headlight.

Once it gets hot enough, the headlight may seal itself, that is if it gets hot where you live.

I got some condensation in my headlight after painting it. Here's what I did. I removed it (took off the bumper the first time, undid the top of the bumper and the fender screw the second time, pulled the edge out enough to get the ratchet in) ANYWAY, after I took it out, I used masking tape and followed the main seal all the way around. I put tape about 1mm from the seam on each side. Then I used Goop Automotive and put it in the seam. After I smeared it down with my finger I removed the tape. This left about a 2mm strip of glue all the way around. Haven't had any problems since.

If you ARE going to open your headlights to do this, take a bit of time and paint the insides. It's well worth the effort, especially if you plan on opening them anyway. Of course, I waited until the condensation dried before I re-sealed it.

What i'm saying is after i removed the headlights from the car (removed bumber to do so) i cut the sponges into about 3-4in long and 1 in wide and tie it to a stick and stick it into the highbeam hole and wipe around inside it. After that i use hairdryer on High Heat(hot) and heat it thru the highbeam hole and the small hole way at the top of the headlight where the L shape rubber tube is, but remove that and took the small sponge inside the rubber off and throw away. So i blow dry it, if it gets too hot just set it down for lil bit then repeat the process, keep heating it til all the condensation are gone, u'll have water spot but that'll go away after a few warm weahter day, plus at night the heat from the beam helps too. PM me if you need any more info. But that's all i did.

ah, gotcha, i was unaware that there were holes in the back of the headlight casing, but now that you say that it makes sense, i was confused as to how you guys were getting the condensation out thru the casing. hopefully get this done this week when i put in the new CAI. thanks.

if you thinking about doing angel eyes, might as well paint your headlight. since you gonna have to put them in the oven and crack them out and all. grin
I'd do that if i ever decide to crak my headlight oven..but for now i doubt it.
