just remember, the bigger the rim the bigger the tire. to widen up the tire I would say to go with 18's.

there 205's...but right now i only have the cash for new tires plus i cant wait to save for bigger rims because my tires i have now are like slicks...so i was just cuious as to see how wide i could go with what i got right now...and yes i want a wider tire, not a bigger one...

you need to have a wider rim in order to have a wider tire size...

8 or 8.5 are best with 215's or 225.

the hotchkis celi w/sc has 17x8 and 235/40/17. is that too wide without some kind of modifications (rolling fender, taking out wheel well plastics, etc...)???? confused

I've got 17's with 205/40. I am going to pick up either 215/40 or 225/40. both are wider and both will fit. The 225/40 is almost an exact match as far as over all diameter(speedo accurate) the 215 is slightly smaller but not as small as the 205.They are also alittle bit of a nicer ride due to alittle more sidewall. You dont want to go with any more side wall as you will loose off the line umpff.

225...thing that bothers me is that i don't want bigger than 17" rims. that means only the nitto will fit (and that's keeping everything uniform=225/40/17).

is this good for the stock GT rims? 205 50 r15? it comes stock with 195 60 r15, so i dont think going from 195-205 will be bad. it will fit nice wont it?

205's 17" are way too skinny for our Celicas. I had them. Was warned not to get 205's on 17" for our rides before. A 215 or 225 like said previously would be ideal in 40 or 45 profile. Just use an inch up guide by any tire site and go by that or ask any rep. at a specialized tire place will give you the same info.
