The reliabilty issue. An Evo has more reliability than a 7th gen Celica and all its little/or big problems. We all chose it. Looks are another issue for us and the Evo looks better than a STI. The Evo engine has been around for at least a decade and is one of those great engines (like the supra) that just plain works. I've seen many videos and read many articles compairing an Evo to a STI, S4, RS4, Porsches, Skylines, etc. in stock form or in different states of tuning and it just kicks ass period.
I'm far less concerned with the Evo engine than I am with the other Turbo sport-compacts on the market. When the manufacturer just dump a Turbo in a Neon or a Protege (as has been done), I worry about the engine withstanding the added stress. The Evo engine was around for a while before it came to the US, and it was built specifically for use with the Turbo setup. Still, I think our cars ( life
bolts excluded) will have far less problems over their lifetime.
