Ok..on my way home from work my radio just started skipping on and off...it would work and then it would shut off, turn on, pound the bass for a minute then shut off..so i just shut the radio off...so then continuing on my journey, my car flat lines, the gauges dropped to zero, but the car still ran, then it turned back on...so whenever i hit the gas, it would almost die, so i shut the lights off and everything electrical off...then it works fine..for a minute..i turned on the lights, car does it again..so i pulled over, and the car totally died...so some guy gave me a jump and i was on my way..so i turned my lights on..battery light goes on again..so i turn off the lights..battery light gone..and so on and so forth...so i turn on my lights and see how far i can make it..it goes for a little, battery light comes on..then it dies..i made it home...and now the car wont start...is this the battery or the alternator???plus my drive belt in my car is going because its whining like a baby...toyota fixes on saturday

it's the battery.

it could be your alternator but since it was 'skippy' (your current was inconsistent) i'd guess its more of a battery output function.

You are probably powering too many things on the current battery, if you have an aftermarket system, etc.

I'd also invest in a voltmeter.
