GTS has rear brake discs, GT has drums, GTS makes its power at higher revs, and has a redline of 8,200 RPM, the GT has 140 hp, but almost as much torque, makes its power at lower revs, and redlines at 6,800 rpm...and the GT costs less...those are the basics

i have owned both and the general consensus is that the Gt has a better tourque curve than the GTS below 6K rpm. The GTS obviously gets a spike of 20whp at "lift" (when it changes to it's 2nd cams)...personally they're different cars for different uses...auto-x'ers prefer GT even though both models corner well...basically the "S" comes with rear brakes,"lift", plus frills (leather seats, 16" wheels, etc.)

of course look at insurance rates...the GTS typically will have a higher insurance rate...ranging from 10-40 dollars more over the GT. just know what you want and what you don't need and you'll be fine thumbsup

In addition to what some people have said, a lot of things that would be otherwise optional on the GT, is standard on the GTS. Such as 16 inch alloy wheels, fog lights, etc.

The only difference in Denmark (where the Celicas are called "Toyota Celica" and "Toyota Celica T sport") is the engine (T sport with 192 hp the other with 143 hp).

Only option is leather seats - and they only comes with manual transmission (6 speed)...

GTS's engine, the 2zz, is a work of art that IMO will make power above 9500rpm with the right work and fuel maps.

you are right about the gt having a slightly better torque curve below 6k rpms...but just look at the spike in the gts torque when you do hit 6-8rpm thumbsup thumbsup

yup that's what i was saying thumbsup although you circled the tq i was stating the 20whp increase. see how it spikes from 112 to 130 @ 6Keek...that shit pushes you back like a mofo and the trd exhaust sounds so indy car like "whhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!"...it's cool. even rsx owners admit to lift being such a kick in the ass. not to say i-vtec is a slouch because theirs kicks in at 5800... grin
