Anyone know the weight of the stock GT flywheel? Looking at lightweight ones, trying to figure out if it's worth it.

I don't know exact weight, but I would say 30lbs give or take.

I used to be a mechanic. I've had flywheels that weighed 40 lbs before. I'd say on a celica it is probably more like 20 and not 30.

How much is the install for you? If you are replacing the clutch at the same time, I'd say its worth it. You are going with Fidanza? Is that reliable? I have heard that its not, but no facts to back it up, just rumor.

Can 5lbs really make a difference. For 380 bucks plus price of install, i would stick with stock. I HAVE HEARD FINDANZA AND UNORTHODOX ARE BOTH UPSTANDING COMPANIES. Good guess though spiderman rofl

2.5lbs of torque unlocked for every pound you remove at the flywheel.. I would say it's worth it. I have actually heard that it can be the best gains for your money (although you hear that about a lot of stuff). Only drawback is that you can end up with a choppy idle, and you have to rev higher to get the car moving from a stop (on stock and F1 cars they are so light people actually have to PUSH the car to get em going). So if you don't mind going through your clutch a little quicker (or willing to install a better one when you install the flywheel) it's worth it. Your acceleration will be very noticably improved.

They are also very beneficial with forced induction vehicles.

Install is the most expensive part. thumbsdown Thats why we all say, go ahead and replace your clutch the same time. If you want an LSD and don't want to pay labor again, get that installed as well all at the same time.

I found this. The gains don't seem right. It says 10-30 hp at the wheels. I went on the UR site and could not find anything about this.

When I'm ready for a new clutch, I think I'm going to go with the RPS flywheel and clutch.
