Celica Forums General Discussion General Oil Burning/Engine Rebuild

Alright, so I know I'm definately burning oil where it's a problem. I'm burning about a quart every 500-600 miles if not two quarts. The right side of my rear bumper (exhaust side) is covered with soot from the smoke.

I might need an engine rebuild, but not sure yet. Anyone know what could be causing this...busted rings? Seals? Etc. I still need to take it to a shop but I'd like your opinions first. This is the last time I'm getting a used car, my 13 y/o Capri didn't even burn as much oil as my Celica is now.

Anyone recommend a place in SoCal for things like this?

There are many reasons why cause oil burns. Bad bearings, rings, valve seals, head gaskets, cracked block. Major repairs are usually the answer.
