Well, here's my prob, i see this a lot and i hate seeing this, so i decided to take care of this, a lot of people that fix their cars up, miss a vital area...the wheel well, and it stands out more, when its dirty and you take pictures, since thats how i niticed. Also, its hard to clean, since its a rough material, i wanted to paint mine either a gloss silver, or a gloss black, i was thinking more about gloss black, but any other ideas will be appreciated. I also want to do this to get away from the crappy look, and since theres a nice coat of gloss, maybe it might be able to get cleaned better...

That's not entirely true. My car is way lowered and I could still see that area is not clean. Try what I do. Take a toilet brush or something similar with a long handle and during washes scrub that area down real good. Only takes a few extra minutes. Then use an aerosol or spray/mist bottle of your favorite tire dresser/blackener on the wheel well. Looks as good as new and doesn't take that much extra time.

Or use some plastic/vinyl cleaner like Meguiers. The painting might look kind of cool, but would get chipped pretty easily I would think.

yea..i reckon its one of those things that look awesome at first but then looks bad when it gets a little older. The toilet brush idea is good tho! grin

Keeping it clean is not enough for that show room shine. Just try spraying it with the same stuff you spray to get your wheels shiny and black after the clean. It may sound funny, but the difference can't be described. I use that stuff around the window (the rubber strips), the S2000 antenna, the black rubber bumper piece in the back, wiper blade assembly, and the plastics around the windshield wiper blades on a rag. I need to take pics before and after so everyone understands how easy it is and how much better it looks I guess.

Yeah, it won't make a difference if you paint them and still leave them dirty. Just clean them and use a product to make them shine like armor all, meguiars, etc.

also forgot to add that if you do paint them, they will invariably get chipped by rocks that are kicked up by your wheels. over time, they'll look horrible. thumbsdown

Exactly. And not to mention that it will peel, and fall off, and look even worse than it once did.

Besides, it's supposed to be dark under there anyways or else it would take something away from the appearance of your car.

yeah and they will draw more attention if they are silver thus making people notice how dirty they really are.
